Sinton Green Meet Report - September 2026

Last weekend’s meet was held at Sinton Green, Noreen and Bob, our stewards, made everyone most welcome. In all there were 13 units over the weekend. It was lovely to see members of other Folk, Dance and Song Groups join us, and Ruth and Paul who joined us on route to visit a friend.

On Friday evening everyone was invited to a ‘bring your own’ supper into the hall. Once the tables were cleared away, Bob was our MC for the evening. The band – Julia, Gay, Rosemary and Dave – was superb as were the evening’s callers, Mark Burton and John. A most enjoyable evening’s entertainment consisted of dances, songs, poems and the Midland Folk, Dance and Song Group’s own ukulele band.

Saturday morning’s craft session, led by Noreen, was music birthday cards. The afternoon session, led by Gay, was creating watercolour pictures using watercolour crayons. Both activities were most engaging, and the level of concentration was very high. As usual, there was a jigsaw, which was completed with input from a number of people, but mainly by Beth and TC. Impromptu music sessions were also heard in the background.

Saturday evening’s shared supper was, as always, delicious. The variety of food was amazing and plentiful. Noreen’s general knowledge quiz, ‘The Letter T’, was a huge success and the well-deserved joint winners were Mark Simons and Janine.

After the quiz, the evening’s entertainment began and we all enjoyed dancing, poems and songs. Thanks must go to our great callers, Gay and John.

Sunday morning’s coffee morning was time to have a natter before saying
‘Au Revoir’ until next time.

All in all, another most successful meet for the Midland FDSG. A big thank you to Noreen and Bob, and to everyone at the meet for such a great time, which was full of fun, laughter and friendship.
