Sinton Green Meet Report - May 2026
In May we met at Sinton Green. When I arrived, it was chucking down with much-needed rain, but not when you're away for the weekend. I was greeted by the fabulous stewards Mark Simons and Daphne Price; first stop: their van for a cuppa out of the rain with other early arrivals. The rain stopped. Others soon arrived and the evening started with supper in the hall followed by a sing-around and dancing.
The craft activity was shell-painting and there was the same unfinished jigsaw from the previous meet - but this time it was completed.
This was the Annual Boules competition which took place on Saturday afternoon, in glorious sunshine, in amongst the buttercups. There were calls of “I can't see the Jack.” and “It’s there behind the 3 buttercups.” As usual, it was great fun and was finally won by Val and Bob the Elder, with a score of 13-1.
We continued with our American supper and self-provided entertainment for the evening. The MC was Gill and the band leaders were Ann and Tim. There was singing, provided by many of our talented members, and dancing, called by John and Gay, and also the String Ensemble put in a couple of appearances.
Mark's Sauce quiz was won by a team of 5 (John, Gill, Val, Colin and Julia), and still they only managed 30 out of 35. Excellent quiz. There was also a raffle with several good prizes - thanks to all those who contributed.
Great weekend
