Shatterford Meet Report - July 2025
Midland Uke Quintet
Our stewards June and Jeff were very welcoming and they organised such glorious weather for this weekend meet held at Shatterford Village Hall.
The meet was well attended and we were delighted to welcome our new guests, Nicola and Ivan.
It was nice to sit outside in the shade and have a natter. Those that wanted joined a craft session organised by June and weaving ensued.
We gathered together at tea-time on Friday to consume our culinary delights.
The hall was too hot, so we moved outside in the fresh air and formed a circle in the shade and Jeff led a sing around. Mark and TC turned up later, and Mark called a dance on the car park.
On Saturday Emily from the Camping & Caravanning Club visited to take photographs and talk to people about their Folk Group experiences.
I was delighted that Chris and Jenny popped in to see us. It was so nice to see Chris in such good form and spirits following his treatment for Cancer.
Saturday evening was an enjoyable occasion starting with a shared supper.
Early evening was spent outdoors and another sing around was organised, led by June.
The quiz was won by Gill and raffle prizes were given.
The evening grew cooler so we moved into the hall. A small band was formed, led by Julia. Nicola and Ivan were enthusiastically introduced to folk dancing.
Thanks to everyone for making this a thoroughly enjoyable weekend.
