Shatterford Day Meet February 2025

This was the second of our 2025 ‘day’ meets at Shatterford. Despite being a cold, wet and thoroughly unpleasant day weatherwise, the turnout was excellent with around 26 members attending. Stewards were Daphne and Mark, with Jeff co-opted as car park attendant. TC had brought along some crafting with a fair number of participants soon busily sewing colourful, decorated bookmarks. Julie and Tom started to play some music and were quickly joined by other musicians for an enjoyable and varied impromptu music/sing around. Other members were happy to sit and chat with friends over a cuppa and a biscuit.

We sat down to our shared supper at 6 o’clock. Shatterford is one of the smaller halls that we use, so it was a bit of a squeeze to get everyone seated for supper. There was a superb spread as usual, with a good variety of dishes provided.

Supper consumed the Band Leader (Ann) marshalled her troops. There were 7 in the band who provided excellent live music for the dancing. We had only 2 callers available, Mark B and Gaynor, so we were most grateful for their efforts to get us up and dancing. At times this was again somewhat of a squeeze, but all great fun.

Mark S was MC for the evening, and we enjoyed a good variety of songs, tunes and anecdotes, as well as our raffle, before finishing at 10, to give us time to tidy the hall, heading home at about 10.30.
